McDonald's in Mexico: what to order and what it costs
What is McDonald's like in Mexico?
McDonald's opened its first Mexican restaurant in 1985. Since then it has adapted its menu to local tastes, with items such as McMolletes for breakfast. Our Mexican list is one of the fullest we hold for McDonald's: 40 items across burgers, chicken, meal combos, sides and desserts, drinks and breakfast.
McDonald's restaurants are mostly run by franchisees, so real prices can differ by city and branch. Read the figures below as a guide. We explain where they come from, and why other sites disagree, at the end.
How much is a Big Mac in Mexico?
On our list, a Big Mac costs MX$129, about $7.30. A McTrío mediano Big Mac, which is the burger with medium fries and a medium drink, costs MX$149. A McTrío grande Big Mac costs MX$175.
McTrío is the Mexican word for the meal deal: a burger, fries and a drink. The saving is big. Buy the Big Mac (MX$129), medium fries (MX$59) and a medium Coca-Cola (MX$55) separately, and you pay MX$243. The medium McTrío is MX$149, which is MX$94 less, or about 39%.
The message is simple. In Mexico, if you want a burger, fries and a drink, order the McTrío.
What are the cheapest burgers?
The classic Hamburguesa range starts very low:
| Burger | Price |
|---|---|
| Hamburguesa | MX$29 |
| Hamburguesa con Queso | MX$49 |
| Hamburguesa Doble con Queso | MX$59 |
| Hamburguesa Triple con Queso | MX$69 |
| McPollo | MX$79 |
| Big Mac | MX$129 |
| McNífica | MX$139 |
| Cuarto de Libra con Queso | MX$139 |
The Triple con Queso costs MX$60 less than a Big Mac, so it's worth a look on a budget. The Cuarto de Libra is the Quarter Pounder, and it costs the same as the McNífica, at MX$139.
How much are McNuggets?
McNuggets come in four sizes:
- 4 pieces: MX$49
- 6 pieces: MX$99
- 10 pieces: MX$139
- 20 pieces: MX$189
Watch the price per nugget. Four pieces cost about MX$12 each, but six cost about MX$16.50 each, and ten cost about MX$14 each. The 20-piece box is the cheapest per nugget, at about MX$9.50. If you're sharing, that's the one to choose.
What about coffee and drinks?
McCafé prices are low on our list. A medium americano costs MX$15, and a large one costs MX$25. A medium latte or cappuccino is MX$45.
Soft drinks cost more than you might expect. A small Coca-Cola is MX$45, which is three times the price of a medium americano. A 600 ml bottle of Ciel water is MX$29. Mexico raised the tax on sugary drinks in January 2026, which can push up soft-drink prices. If you're on a budget, coffee or water is the cheaper choice.
What is on the breakfast menu?
Breakfast is where McDonald's Mexico shows its local side:
- McMolletes (3 pieces): MX$79. Molletes are bread topped with beans and melted cheese.
- McMuffin Huevo Salchicha: MX$69
- Hot Cakes: MX$59
- Hashbrown: MX$29
How does McDonald's compare with other Mexican chains?
On our Mexican lists, a Whopper con Queso at Burger King is MX$119, which is MX$10 less than a Big Mac. A Big Carl at Carl's Jr. is MX$115. A KFC classic bucket of 8 pieces is MX$309. See the KFC page for more.
For coffee, Caffenio, a Mexican chain, sells a hot americano at MX$29. That's MX$14 more than McDonald's medium americano. Our full Mexican eating-out guide compares the chains in more detail.
Do you pay tax or tip at McDonald's in Mexico?
Menu prices in Mexico include IVA, the 16% value-added tax. What you see is what you pay. You don't need to tip at McDonald's counters.
Are delivery apps more expensive in Mexico?
Often. McDonald's Mexico offers its own McDelivery, and it's also on apps such as Uber Eats, Rappi and DiDi Food. Third-party apps often show higher prices than the restaurant and add fees. Use our delivery markup calculator to see the real extra cost. To see how McDonald's works around the world, read our McDonald's guide.
How did we get these prices, and why do other sites differ?
McDonald's doesn't publish one national price list. We used the fastfoodsmenu.com listing for McDonald's México, which the site dates 7 February 2026, and we read it on 19 September 2026. Its prices are whole pesos, in line with the way the chain's app prices its menu.
We should be honest about a problem. Other sites list very different prices. One unaffiliated site shows a Big Mac at about MX$69, and another source we used earlier showed MX$59, which it labelled as a modelled estimate. Prices also vary by city and franchise. We chose the dated whole-peso list, but treat every figure as a guide and check the McDonald's app for your local price. You can read how we work on our methodology page.
