Founded in 1939 in Newcastle upon Tyne by John Gregg, who originally delivered eggs and yeast by bicycle before opening a bakery. Grew into the UK's largest bakery chain, nationally famous for its sausage roll, and generated a genuine viral moment in 2017 when it launched a vegan version of the same roll.
