Founded in 2002 by the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia, Juan Valdez Café was created specifically so Colombian coffee growers could capture more value from their own product rather than only exporting raw beans — and to build a genuinely Colombian competitor to international coffee chains like Starbucks.
