Founded in 1984 in Jeffersonville, Indiana, by John Schnatter, who knocked out a broom closet in the back of his father's tavern to install a pizza oven and began selling pizzas out of it. Its long-running slogan, "Better Ingredients. Better Pizza.", became one of the most recognised taglines in American fast food.
