Founded in 1950 in Quincy, Massachusetts, by William Rosenberg, originally called Open Kettle before being renamed Dunkin' Donuts within its first year. Built its identity around coffee and donuts for factory and office workers, growing into one of the largest coffee-and-baked-goods chains in the US. Dropped "Donuts" from its name in 2019 to reflect its shift toward being primarily a beverage brand.
